The project seeks to develop a coherent philosophical anthropology which in its contemporary delimitation has replaced traditional metaphysics as the first philosophy. Against the background of Kant’s questions – What can I know? (cognitive problem), What ought I to do? (ethical and practical-philosophical problem), and What may I hope? (religious, eschatological problem), which culminate in the fundamental question What is the human being? (anthropological problem) – the research team will explore the connections between current epistemology, science, aesthetics, ethics, political science and philosophy of religious experience on the one hand and the ways of constituting the image of the human being in contemporary thought on the other hand.
