This is the first part of the paper in which it is claimed that there is exactly one se- mantically relevant pragmatic process, namely saturation. Saturation ascribes content to an expression (or another suitable syntactic unit) with respect to the context of its use. Saturation is usually discerned from so-called free enrichment which is supposed to be another semantically relevant pragmatic process. However, given its explanatory purposes, it is demonstrated that free enrichment is superfluous; for everything explained in terms of free enrichment can be explained fully in terms of saturation. Minimal indexicalism is a theory design to do so.
