Therefore, I first turn to the origins of this term in Gilbert Ryle{\textquoteright}s {\textquotedblleft}Categories{\textquotedblright}, to further developments in {\textquotedblleft}Philosophical Arguments{\textquotedblright} and in P. F. Strawson, as well as to W. H. Walsh{\textquoteright}s approach to categories, to establish a workable meaning of the term {\textquotedblleft}category-mistake{\textquotedblright}. In the second part, I briefly discuss some of the previous uses of this term in exegeses of Marx. Based on Marx{\textquoteright}s writings and D. Sayer{\textquoteright}s work on Marx{\textquoteright}s methodology, I then explicate the meaning of Marx{\textquoteright}s term {\textquotedblleft}economic category{\textquotedblright}. Finally, I arrive at an interpretation of Marx{\textquoteright}s critique of economic theories as an analysis concerned with the improper use of theoretical concepts. By way of conclusion, I offer some general remarks on one important aspect of critique in Marx and in social science in general.}, keywords = {categories, category-mistakes, critique in social science, critique of political economy}, url = {http://www.klemens.sav.sk/fiusav/doc/organon/2012/3/338-360.pdf}, author = {Halas, Juraj} }
